Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has resumed training after his release from prison in Mexico, where he was detained following his deportation from the United States.

Chavez Jr., 39, was arrested by US immigration authorities in Los Angeles last month, shortly after losing a match to Jake Paul.

He was subsequently deported to Mexico, where he faced charges related to alleged cartel ties.

Allegations And Charges

Mexican prosecutors allege that Chavez Jr. acted as a henchman for the powerful Sinaloa Cartel, which Washington designated a foreign terrorist organization earlier this year.

However, Chavez Jr.’s lawyers and family reject the accusations. He is facing charges related to arms trafficking and organized crime.

Return To Training

Despite the ongoing legal issues, Chavez Jr. has returned to training, with video footage shared on social media showing him working out at the Coliseo Boxing Club, a boxing gym in Hermosillo.

The gym thanked Chavez Jr. for his visit, saying, “Thanks for your visit… This is your home.”

Background

Chavez Jr. is the son of legendary former world champion boxer Julio Cesar Chavez. His recent troubles began after losing a match to Jake Paul, which was followed by his arrest and deportation.

Chavez Jr.’s release from prison was granted by a local judge, who ruled that he could continue the legal process outside detention.
