In a move that has sparked concern over emergency healthcare delivery, the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has interdicted two medical doctors and two nurses following allegations that they failed to provide timely emergency care to a hit-and-run accident victim, Charles Amissah who later died.

The hospital made the announcement in a statement released on Monday, February 23, 2026.

According to hospital authorities, the interdiction is part of administrative measures pending a full investigation into the incident.

Charles Amissah, who had been involved in a hit-and-run accident, reportedly required urgent medical attention.

However, allegations suggest that the four health professionals on duty failed to attend to the patient, ultimately resulting in his death.

The hospital’s management emphasized that, in line with its standard procedures, a dedicated investigative committee has been established to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.

The committee is expected to assess both procedural lapses and the conduct of the medical staff involved.

In the statement, hospital officials called for full cooperation from all personnel and witnesses connected to the incident, underscoring the need for a fair and transparent inquiry.

“We are committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and the provision of quality healthcare services at all times,” the management noted, while promising to communicate further developments once the investigation concludes.
