Media Personality Blakofe Assaulted By Family Over Access To Late Father’s House

Media personality and former tourism ambassador, Akua Manfo, popularly known as Blakofe, has shared a harrowing account of an alleged assault by members of her father’s extended family in Asamankese, Eastern Region

According to her, the incident occurred when she attempted to access her late father’s private residence, which she claims has been wrongfully taken over by her paternal relatives.

In a detailed post on her verified Facebook page, Blakofe recounted that about 20 members of her Akyem family confronted her when she visited her father’s home.

She claimed that five men physically attacked her, attempting to seize her handbag and car keys, while others locked the gates to prevent her from leaving the property.

“Apparently, as the first-born daughter, I’m not allowed in my dad’s private residence. It apparently belongs to his nephews and is now the official Sanaahene Palace of Asamankese,” she wrote.

She alleged that the men encircled and assaulted her, while some of her female relatives encouraged the attack, calling on the men to “beat” and “kill” her. Fearing for her life, she said she jumped over the inner gate and escaped through the outer gate before running to the Asamankese Police Station for safety.

Blakofe indicated that the matter has since been reported to the police and is under investigation.

However, she expressed fears about possible bias in the case, claiming that some of her relatives have close ties with officers in the Asamankese Police Command.

“What pains me is they chose five males to physically assault me. Why not my female cousins? Even if a first-born daughter can’t enter her dad’s house because her mum is Mossi and GaDangme, I didn’t know the law says to physically assault them, hold them hostage, lock the gate so they can’t drive out, threaten to beat and kill their friend, and confiscate their car,” she lamented.

According to her, it took police intervention before she could retrieve her vehicle.

She further stated that the confrontation stemmed from long-standing disagreements over property and inheritance issues within the family, including disputes over her late father’s will and the management of his estate.

Blakofe, visibly frustrated, accused some male relatives of mismanaging her father’s legacy and properties, including selling off family cocoa farms.

She criticized them for what she described as a failure to uphold her father’s reputation, alleging that some family members squandered resources meant to preserve his memory.

“Instead of us to unite and use his money and name to build his legacy and generational wealth, his so-called son wasted the money on boxers and other things. Now nephews are selling cocoa farms to eat fufu today. They don’t even visit or weed his grave,” she added.

She concluded her post by calling for justice and urging the police and courts to ensure that the law is upheld without favoritism.

The Asamankese Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
