MoMo Launches ‘MoMo Hour’ Campaign With GH¢5,000 Monthly Cash Prize

By Grace Zigah

MobileMoney Fintech LTD (MMFL) has launched a new customer rewards campaign dubbed “MoMo Hour”, offering users the opportunity to earn instant rewards and compete for monthly cash prizes by completing qualifying transactions on the MoMo App during designated one-hour windows.

The app-exclusive campaign, which runs from September 8 to December 18, 2026, forms part of MMFL’s broader strategy to increase adoption and active usage of the MoMo App while encouraging customers to explore the wider range of financial and lifestyle services available on the platform.

Under the campaign, specific one-hour reward windows will be announced in advance through official customer alerts. Customers who complete qualifying transactions on the MoMo App during an active reward window will become eligible for the corresponding reward, subject to the campaign’s terms and conditions.

Transactions Eligible for Rewards

The transactions that qualify for rewards will vary depending on the particular reward window.

They may include the purchase of airtime and data, person-to-person money transfers, MoMoPay and merchant payments, as well as payments for television, electricity, water and school fees.

Customers may also earn rewards through transactions involving insurance, savings, investments, pensions and loan repayments.

Depending on the specific offer running during a reward window, customers could receive e-cash, data bundles of up to 1GB, 20 minutes of voice airtime, discounted transaction fees and other benefits.

Beyond the instant rewards, participants will have the opportunity to compete for monthly cash prizes, with the top monthly prize set at GH¢5,000.

Campaign Targets App Adoption

According to MMFL, MoMo Hour is designed not only as a customer rewards initiative but also as part of a wider effort to encourage more customers to move from traditional USSD-based transactions to the MoMo App.

Commenting on the campaign, Alfred Hammond, Head of Marketing at MobileMoney Fintech LTD, said the initiative combines immediate benefits for customers with the company’s objective of expanding access to digital financial services.

“The MoMo App is more than a channel for transferring money. It gives customers secure, convenient access to payments, savings, credit, insurance, pensions and investments in one place,” he said.

Hammond disclosed that more than one million customers already use advanced financial services through 170# but have not yet opened the MoMo App.

He said MoMo Hour was intended to provide such customers with an incentive to download and begin using the application while also allowing existing users to discover additional services available on the platform.

“MoMo Hour gives them a compelling reason to start: transact during a reward window, discover what else the app can do and earn rewards along the way,” he added.

Customers Urged to Watch for Official Alerts

MMFL is encouraging customers to download or update the MoMo App and pay attention to official notifications announcing the reward windows.

Customers who want to participate are required to complete qualifying transactions during the designated periods to become eligible for the applicable rewards.

Existing MoMo App users are also being encouraged to explore services beyond basic money transfers, including payments, savings, investments, insurance, pensions, loans and other financial and lifestyle services.

More Activities Planned

The company said MoMo Hour is the first in a series of planned initiatives aimed at deepening engagement with the MoMo App.

Future activities will include Hourly Streaks, which will reward repeat participation, as well as a MoMoFest takeover and a Mega Hour finale in December.

The initiatives are expected to build on the MoMo Hour campaign by encouraging customers to use the application more regularly and become familiar with the range of services available on the platform.
