NPP Rallies Members To Join Nationwide Clean-Up Exercise Despite Constituency Elections

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed its members across the country to actively participate in the nationwide General Cleaning Exercise scheduled for Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026, despite the party’s ongoing constituency executive elections.

The directive, issued by the party’s National Headquarters, comes as Ghana prepares for a nationwide sanitation campaign declared by President John Dramani Mahama to promote environmental cleanliness and improve public sanitation across the country.

In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, and dated July 9, 2026, the party urged all members to demonstrate their commitment to environmental sanitation, civic responsibility and national development by taking part in the exercise.

The NPP acknowledged that the nationwide clean-up coincides with its constituency elections scheduled for Saturday, July 11, but assured members that both activities could be undertaken without conflict.

According to the party, since voting in the constituency elections will be conducted on a walk-in basis, members are encouraged to cast their ballots first before joining the clean-up exercise in their respective communities.

“In view of the party’s Constituency Elections on Saturday, July 11, 2026, members are encouraged to participate in the cleaning exercise immediately after casting their ballots, as voting is conducted on a walk-in basis,” the statement said.

The party stressed that participation in the exercise would reflect the NPP’s dedication to promoting a cleaner environment while contributing to national development initiatives regardless of political differences.

The nationwide clean-up campaign forms part of broader efforts by the government to tackle sanitation challenges, improve waste management and encourage citizens to take greater responsibility for keeping their communities clean.

The exercise is expected to involve public institutions, private organisations, political parties, civil society groups and residents across the country.

Meanwhile, the NPP is simultaneously conducting its constituency executive elections, an important phase in the party’s internal reorganisation ahead of future political activities.

The elections are expected to elect constituency executives who will steer the affairs of the party at the local level and strengthen its grassroots structures following the 2024 general elections.

By directing its members to participate in both the internal elections and the national sanitation exercise, the party says it seeks to balance its organisational activities with its broader civic responsibility to support initiatives aimed at improving environmental sanitation and public health.

The statement concluded by calling on all party faithful to fully support the nationwide clean-up campaign as part of their contribution to building a cleaner and healthier Ghana.
