A tragic and mysterious incident has rocked the Pomposo community in the Obuasi East District of the Ashanti Region, as a young prison officer, identified as Constable Clement Tei Gyabah, was found dead in the early hours of Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
The lifeless body of the officer was discovered in the River Pompo, alongside his motorbike, raising more questions than answers.

Constable Gyabah was reportedly on his way to work from Asokore around 5:00 a.m. when the incident occurred. At the time, it was drizzling—a factor believed to have possibly contributed to the tragic occurrence.
Eyewitnesses and residents of Pomposo were left in shock upon the discovery.
Accounts gathered from those familiar with the area suggest that the officer might have veered off the road, possibly after hitting a concrete barricade with his motorcycle.
However, other residents speculate that he might have been struck by a hit and run vehicle,—an assertion drawn from the deep cuts and injuries found on his body.
The conflicting eyewitness accounts have made it difficult to ascertain the exact cause of death.
While some believe it was a case of an unfortunate accident due to poor visibility and slippery roads, others are suspicious of foul play, citing the severity of the wounds
The Obuasi Police swiftly responded to the scene after being notified, retrieving the body and transporting it to the morgue for autopsy and further investigation.
They have since launched an inquiry to determine the exact cause of the officer’s death.
Constable Clement Tei Gyabah’s untimely passing has left his colleagues in the Ghana Prisons Service and the entire Pomposo community in mourning.
