Sex Scandal Rocks British Columbia College

By Daniel Bampoe

British Columbia College (BCC), a private academic institution located at Adjiringanor-Ashaley Botwe in Accra, has found itself at the center of a growing controversy involving allegations of sexual misconduct against its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The scandal began when a female student posted a video on TikTok accusing the CEO of harassment— an allegation the school has strongly denied.

Background and Disciplinary History

The student at the heart of the controversy, Anastasia Odametey, was suspended from BCC on May 22, 2025, for what the school described as repeated acts of insubordination and disrespect towards school authorities.

In a formal letter signed by Principal Cecil Mends, the school outlined that Odametey had used derogatory language against the Head of Academics, “Sir Prince,” and had demonstrated a pattern of rude behavior toward the boarding house mistress, principal, and other staff.

Despite being taken through multiple counseling sessions, the school said the misconduct persisted, prompting the two-week suspension.

She was scheduled to return on June 6, 2025.

However, school authorities say she failed to report back and eventually abandoned her coursework entirely.

Her absence rendered her ineligible to graduate with the Class of 2025.

The TikTok Allegation

On June 24, 2025, a video surfaced on social media in which Anastasia alleged harassment by the school’s CEO.

The video quickly went viral, triggering public outrage and prompting calls for a formal investigation. While she did not name the CEO explicitly, her remarks left little ambiguity.

The timing of the video, coming just days after another student received a $40,000 university scholarship and was celebrated by the school community, has fueled speculation that the post was motivated by resentment and frustration over her inability to graduate.

School’s Response

In a rejoinder dated June 25, 2025, the school’s Administrator, Samuel Takyi Ansah, refuted all claims made in the video, branding them as “totally false.”

The statement emphasized that the student had a history of disciplinary issues even before enrolling at BCC — issues which reportedly followed her from Germany, where she was previously residing.

According to the rejoinder, her mother in Germany and her guardian in Ghana have been kept informed throughout and have both apologized to the school for her conduct.

The school further stated that with full parental consent, it had initiated legal proceedings and involved the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.

Takyi Ansah reassured parents and guardians that “your wards are very safe in our care,” and reiterated that BCC would pursue the matter through legal means.

“Every single allegation in the video is totally false and must be disregarded,” he said, while also inviting anyone with credible evidence to come forward in court.

Legal Action Underway

The matter has since been officially reported to the Police CID.

In a comment on social media, an individual believed to be closely associated with the school, identified as Benedict Yartey, stated:

“With the full parental consent from the girl’s parents, she is currently under investigation… come with your evidence. Rule of law is at work.”

The school also hinted at releasing a full investigative report in due course, pending the conclusion of police investigations.

It maintains that the allegations are a form of “emotional blackmail” and defamation.
