A Takoradi-based Islamic cleric identified as Mallam Anas has reportedly been declared wanted following allegations that he abused more than 20 children at a local mosque in the Nkwadaa area of the Western Region.

According to reports, the victims are boys and girls between the ages of six and ten years who allegedly suffered various forms of abuse while attending activities at the mosque under the care of the cleric.

Sources within the community claim that several families have come forward with allegations against the suspect, with some parents accusing him of repeatedly targeting vulnerable children over a period of time.

Residents say the situation has sparked fear and outrage in the area, particularly after reports emerged that three children from the same family were among the alleged victims.

Some families have also reportedly raised concerns about the physical and emotional condition of the affected children.

Information gathered indicates that Mallam Anas is alleged to have previously faced similar accusations in other communities where he resided before relocating to Takoradi.

Community members claim that some of the allegations date back several years and allegedly led to his removal from previous locations.

Amid increasing public pressure and calls from residents for his arrest and prosecution, the suspect is said to have fled the area and is currently on the run.

Community members are now appealing to law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to locate and arrest the suspect to assist with investigations into the allegations.
