The Black Stars have been hit by a wave of injuries, leaving coach Otto Addo with a depleted squad ahead of their friendly match against South Korea.
The team has been plagued by injuries, with Francis Abu suffering a broken leg in their 2-0 defeat to Japan, while Mohammed Salisu and Antoine Semenyo have also left camp to return to their clubs for treatment.
The absence of these players adds to the list of key players who did not make the trip to Asia, including Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, and Fatawu Issahaku.
As a result, Otto Addo has been left with a squad of just 19 players.
Addressing the situation, Addo admitted that replacing injured players on short notice has been complicated, citing visa problems and other issues.
“We are happy to be here. We were facing some difficulties with some injured players. It is also, but to be honest, not so easy for us to get replacements because of visa problems and issues. It is always not possible for us to get fast replacements. But we prepared very well,” he said.
Despite the setbacks, Otto Addo and his technical team remain confident that the group available can deliver a competitive performance.
The match against South Korea is scheduled to kick off at 11:00 am local time today.
