The accident involved a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus with registration number GW-5535-24, which was traveling from Kumasi to Accra.

In all, 17 passengers were on board—11 males and 6 females. Sadly, four people lost their lives instantly, comprising three men and one woman.

Their bodies have since been deposited at the morgue for preservation and identification.

The accident also resulted in partial damage to the Sprinter bus.

Passengers’ personal belongings, including bags, footwear, and food items, were scattered across the road after the crash.

Police later moved to secure the items while ensuring the free flow of traffic on the busy highway.

Accident-Prone Stretch of Highway

The Kumasi–Accra highway, particularly the Asuboi–Suhum stretch, has long been notorious for fatal accidents.

Overspeeding, tyre bursts, and driver fatigue are among the leading causes of crashes reported on the road in recent years.
