What began as a calm Sunday evening at ICGC Christ Temple East transformed into one of the most spiritually charged gospel gatherings of 2026, as hundreds of worshippers converged on the Teshie auditorium for the Accra edition of the Awake Experience with Diana Hamilton on February 15.
The programme, which has grown over the years into one of Ghana’s most anticipated annual gospel worship events, reflects Diana Hamilton’s evolving ministry vision — a blend of worship, revival, discipleship and intergenerational unity.
Since its inception, Awake Experience has served not just as a concert platform but as a spiritual gathering space where seasoned ministers and emerging voices share one altar and one message.
This year’s edition opened with a gentle flow of worship that gradually drew the congregation into reverence. Soft harmonies, controlled instrumentals and slow-paced ministration allowed worshippers to settle into the atmosphere, creating a calm spiritual foundation before the intensity of praise unfolded.
Gospel musician Siisi Baidoo was among the first to minister, delivering a restrained but emotionally rich worship set that prepared the hearts of the congregation for the night ahead. His performance focused on intimacy rather than spectacle, reinforcing the spiritual tone of the programme.
The energy in the auditorium shifted when Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta mounted the stage. His vibrant stage presence and rhythmic delivery transformed the calm atmosphere into celebratory praise. With popular songs like “You Dey Feel The Vibe,” he ignited instant audience participation, drawing the congregation into synchronized clapping, singing and dancing as the auditorium moved into full praise mode.
International worship took centre stage when South African gospel powerhouse Ntokozo Mbambo led an extended session of spirit-led worship. Her ministration unified the entire auditorium, blending vocal strength with spiritual depth as the congregation responded in collective adoration. Her presence reflected the growing cross-border collaborations that have become a defining feature of contemporary African gospel ministry.
Veteran gospel minister Elder Emmanuel Kwasi Mireku followed with a deeply reflective ministration that shifted the atmosphere once again. His calm, seasoned delivery led the congregation into a moment of stillness and introspection, reminding worshippers of the enduring power of traditional Ghanaian gospel ministry rooted in reverence and scripture.
The tempo rose again with the entrance of the legendary Tagoe Sisters, whose high-energy praise reignited excitement in the auditorium. Their timeless songs drew spontaneous dancing, clapping and joyful celebration, reinforcing their enduring influence across generations of Ghanaian worshippers.
The defining centrepiece of the night, however, came with the entrance of Diana Hamilton herself. Calm, composed and spiritually grounded, she led a carefully structured ministration that blended exhortation, worship, praise and testimony.
Unlike a typical concert performance, her set was deliberately pastoral — guiding the congregation rather than performing to them.
Between songs, she exhorted worshippers to remain spiritually “awake,” anchored in gratitude and steadfast faith, reinforcing the core message behind the Awake Experience brand.
Her performance included some of her most beloved worship anthems, including “Yehowa Behw3,” “Wasem,” “Nsenkyer3ne Nyankopon,” and “Mo Ne Yo.” Each song drew strong congregational response, with worshippers singing along, lifting hands, and engaging in spontaneous praise.
The emotional peak of the night came during the live performance of “Aha Y3” (“This Is a Good Place”) — a song that has become one of the most spiritually resonant releases in her recent catalogue.
In a symbolic moment of unity, Diana Hamilton was joined on stage by Ntokozo Mbambo and Elder Mireku. The trio ministered side by side, exchanging verses before lifting the chorus together in harmony.
Ntokozo’s soulful depth blended seamlessly with Elder Mireku’s timeless tone, while Diana anchored the performance with calm authority and spiritual sensitivity.
The congregation responded instantly, echoing the lyrics as a declaration rather than a song.
The entire auditorium became a unified voice of worship — some dancing, others praying, many standing with lifted hands in reverence.
