In a dramatic turn of events, former Minister of Works and Housing Alhaji Collins Dauda and four others have been cleared of all wrongdoing in the Saglemi Housing Project saga.
The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, officially withdrew all charges against the accused individuals through a nolle prosequi notice filed at the High Court (Financial Division 1) in Accra on February 7, 2025
On 25th February 2025, the former Minister of Works and Housing, Collins Dauda, and three others were discharged as the Attorney-General dropped charges against them Deeping Mahama’s new title of chief clearing agent.
The accused, who faced 70 charges, including causing financial loss to the state, were alleged to have played key roles in the planning and execution of the $200 million Saglemi Affordable Housing Project.
The project, initiated under the previous Mahama-led administration, was marred by controversy, with accusations of financial irregularities and mismanagement.
The notice, signed by the Attorney-General, brings an end to the state’s case against the accused individuals, who include Collins Dauda, Kwaku Agyeman-Mensah (former Minister for Water Resources, Works, and Housing), Alhaji Ziblim Yakubu (former Chief Director of the Ministry for Water Resources, Works, and Housing), Nouvi Tetteh Angelo (CEO of Ridge Management Solutions Ghana Limited), and Andrew Clocanas (deceased, former Executive Chairman of Construtora OAS Ghana Limited).
The decision to drop the charges has significant implications, as it clears the names of the accused individuals and brings closure to the long-running case.
