Award-winning Ghanaian actress and television host Nana Ama McBrown has publicly confirmed the end of her 12-year marriage to Maxwell Mensah, revealing that the decision was mutually taken and devoid of acrimony, contrary to months of speculation surrounding their union.

Speaking candidly on TV3’s New Day programme, the celebrated entertainer announced that she is officially divorced and at peace with her decision.

Nana Ama McBrown stressed that the separation was handled with maturity and respect, describing it as a “beautiful” process marked by honest conversations rather than public conflict.

According to her, both she and her former husband reached a point of emotional exhaustion in the marriage and decided it was best to part ways. Rather than allowing tensions to fester, the couple sat down, discussed their challenges openly, and agreed to move on separately.

She emphasised that the bond between them has not been destroyed, noting that they remain close friends who still communicate regularly.

McBrown further disclosed that her relationship with her former in-laws remains intact.

She explained that she continues to visit them and is welcomed warmly, an indication that the separation did not fracture family ties.

While acknowledging that her ex-husband and his family would have preferred that she stayed in the marriage, she admitted she could no longer continue, despite still having respect and affection for him.

The actress also shed light on the nature of their union, explaining that the marriage was contracted under customary law. As such, the dissolution required the involvement of both families, a process she said was smoothly handled without hostility or public drama.

One aspect of the marriage McBrown said she treasures deeply is the daughter she shares with Maxwell Mensah.

She described her child, Maxine, as the greatest blessing to emerge from the relationship and the source of her enduring joy, even after the marriage ended.

In a striking declaration, the media personality stated firmly that she has no intention of remarrying. While she did not rule out the possibility of having more children, she maintained that marriage is no longer an option for her, adding that lasting marriages—especially in the entertainment industry—deserve recognition and applause.

Before her public confirmation, rumours had circulated widely about trouble in the couple’s marriage, with unverified reports alleging infidelity as a contributing factor to the breakdown.

Nana McBrown, however, did not dwell on such claims, choosing instead to focus on her current happiness and emotional wellbeing.
