Wolves Sack Manager Vitor Pereira After Winless Start To Premier League Season

BY Nadia Ntiamoah

Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club has sacked head coach Vitor Pereira due to a dismal start to the season.

The team has failed to win any of their 10 English Premier League games, accumulating only two points and conceding 22 goals.

Pereira took charge in December 2024 and had guided the team to safety in the top flight by April.

Despite his efforts, the team’s performance has been underwhelming, leading to Pereira’s dismissal.

The club’s executive chairman, Jeff Shi, expressed gratitude for Pereira’s hard work but emphasized that a change in leadership was necessary due to the team’s poor performance.

Pereira signed a new three-year contract in September, but the agreement has now been terminated.

During his tenure, Pereira faced criticism from fans, particularly after a 3-2 loss to Burnley, where he was escorted away from heated discussions with supporters.

Aftermath

All eight of Pereira’s backroom staff have also left the club. Under-21 coach James Collins and under-18 coach Richard Walker will take charge of training while the club finalizes the appointment of a new manager.

Wolves’ next game is against Chelsea, and the team is eight points away from the safety zone, making their battle for Premier League survival increasingly challenging.
