Woman Arrested With Wee At Tinkong Barrier

A week after her dramatic arrest at the Tinkong Police Barrier on the Koforidua–Akuapem Mamfe road in the Eastern Region, suspected drug dealer Grace Terkper has yet to be arraigned before court, raising serious concerns about the handling of the case by law enforcement authorities.

The suspect was arrested by a team of five police officers during a routine barrier operation, but developments since her arrest have triggered public suspicion, especially amid reports that she may soon be released on police enquiry bail despite the gravity of the alleged offence.

Security sources say Terkper is allegedly part of a well-organised drug trafficking cartel, which is believed to include a dismissed police officer who has long been on the radar of security agencies for alleged involvement in narcotics-related activities.

During her arrest, the suspect was reportedly overheard communicating with the former officer, who allegedly assured her that she would soon regain her freedom—an assurance that is now drawing attention following reports of an imminent bail decision.

According to police sources, Terkper was intercepted while travelling in a Toyota Voxy commercial vehicle en route to Accra, where officers discovered over 10 wrapped substances suspected to be cannabis.

The substances were allegedly concealed under her clothing and further hidden inside a suitcase, suggesting a deliberate attempt to evade detection.

Investigators believe she has been involved in the covert transportation of narcotics to different parts of the country using commercial vehicles as cover.

Despite the serious nature of the allegations and the quantity of the suspected narcotic seized, sources indicate that the substances are yet to be tested at the police forensic laboratory, a standard procedure required to confirm the nature of the drugs before prosecution.
