Popular Ghanaian TikTok content creator and comedian Juiscy Vibez has publicly apologized to President John Dramani Mahama following months of legal troubles stemming from comments she made in a promotional video that authorities deemed defamatory.
The apology comes as the social media personality awaits a final court ruling in a case that has sparked national debate about the boundaries of online content creation, freedom of expression, and the responsibilities that accompany the growing influence of digital platforms.
In a recent TikTok video shared with her followers, Juiscy Vibez expressed deep regret over the remarks that landed her in trouble, insisting that she never intended to insult or defame the President.
According to the content creator, the controversial statements were the result of an unfortunate verbal mistake made while recording a promotional video for an upcoming movie project. She maintained that her comments were not directed at President Mahama personally and were never intended to damage his reputation.
“It was never my intention to insult the President,” she stated while explaining the circumstances that led to the incident.
The controversy originated from a movie promotion video in which Juiscy Vibez discussed a storyline involving alleged infidelity and relationship drama. During the recording, she made remarks referencing alleged affairs involving occupants of the seat of government and drew comparisons involving the First Lady and the President.
The comments quickly generated public outrage, with many viewers interpreting them as direct allegations against President Mahama and his family.
Although the TikToker attempted to clarify before ending the video that she was discussing a fictional movie plot and encouraged viewers to watch the full production on YouTube, the explanation failed to prevent widespread criticism and calls for action. The matter soon attracted the attention of the Ghana Police Service’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team, which launched investigations into the content.
The development marked another example of growing scrutiny by authorities over social media content considered harmful, misleading, or defamatory.
Following investigations, Juiscy Vibez was arrested by police officers and subsequently arraigned before the court.
At her first court appearance, she was denied bail and remanded into custody, a decision that generated considerable public discussion and sympathy from some sections of the public who viewed the punishment as harsh for a content creator.
After spending time in remand custody, she later secured bail through her legal team and was released pending the continuation of court proceedings.
Recounting the emotional experience during her recent apology, Juiscy Vibez revealed that she was arrested in the presence of her two children, describing the incident as one of the most painful moments of her life.
She also spoke about the psychological and emotional toll of her detention and the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing legal process.
According to her, the experience has served as a major lesson about the responsibilities associated with creating content for public consumption.
