The Ghana Football Association has called for swift justice following the tragic death of Berekum Chelsea forward Dominic Frimpong, who was fatally shot during an armed robbery attack on the club’s team bus.

The incident occurred on Sunday night as Berekum Chelsea were returning from a Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex.

Reports indicate that the team bus was ambushed along the Bibiani–Goaso road, where armed assailants blocked the route, forcing players and officials to abandon the vehicle and flee into nearby bush in fear.

Amid the chaos, multiple players sustained injuries, but the situation turned fatal when the 20-year-old Frimpong was struck by a gunshot.

The young forward, who was on loan from Aduana FC, was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

In a strongly worded statement, the FA described the incident as a devastating blow not only to Berekum Chelsea but to Ghanaian football as a whole.

The Association confirmed that it is working closely with the Ghana Police Service as investigations continue, while urging authorities to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

Beyond the immediate tragedy, the attack has reignited longstanding concerns about the safety of football teams traveling across the country for domestic competitions.

In recent years, several clubs—including FC Savannah, Wa All Stars, Legon Cities, and AshantiGold—have reportedly faced similar security threats on major highways.
