The 2028 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is set to take his policy message onto the global stage as he prepares to deliver a keynote address at the prestigious London School of Economics Africa Summit scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026.

According to a statement signed by his spokesperson, Dr. Gideon Boako, Dr. Bawumia will speak on the theme, “Artificial Intelligence and Uniting Borders in Africa,” a subject that aligns with his long-standing advocacy for digital transformation and innovation-driven economic growth across the continent.

The address comes at a time when Dr. Bawumia has emerged as a central figure in Ghana’s political landscape following his victory in the NPP’s presidential primaries held on January 31, 2026, where he secured 56.48% of the valid votes cast to become the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections. Since then, he has intensified both domestic and international engagements aimed at shaping policy conversations and strengthening his leadership profile.

At the summit, Dr. Bawumia is expected to present a forward-looking vision on how artificial intelligence can serve as a catalyst for Africa’s economic transformation, enhance productivity, and bridge structural gaps across countries. He is also anticipated to explore how emerging technologies can promote cross-border collaboration, facilitate trade, and deepen regional integration within the African continent.

The LSE Africa Summit is widely regarded as one of the leading global platforms for dialogue on Africa’s development, bringing together policymakers, academics, students, and industry leaders to deliberate on key issues shaping the continent’s future. This year’s event is expected to focus significantly on innovation, governance, and economic resilience in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Dr. Bawumia’s participation underscores his continued emphasis on technology and digitalisation as core pillars of his economic philosophy, a stance he championed during his tenure as Vice President and throughout his campaign for the NPP flagbearer position.

His address is also expected to reinforce Ghana’s positioning within broader African conversations on digital transformation, as well as signal the policy direction he intends to pursue should he secure victory in the 2028 general elections.
