In an inspiring twist of fate, Ghanaian music star Wendy Shay has turned a viral moment into a life-changing opportunity for one of her youngest fans.
The artist has pledged to fully sponsor the education of a schoolgirl, Tracy Shay, from primary school through to university after a video of the young girl dancing to Wendy’s hit song Too Late captured national attention.
The video, which began circulating widely on social media on April 3, 2025, showed the pre-teen enthusiastically dancing during the All Ashaiman Schools Festival at Ridona Junior High School.
Her energy and joy won over thousands online—and most importantly, caught the eye of her idol.
In response, Wendy Shay made a surprise visit to Tracy’s school on April 11, bringing with her not only words of encouragement and heartfelt gifts but a life-changing promise.
“I was touched and wanted to show appreciation to little Tracy,” Wendy Shay said during the visit. “I wanted to encourage her to stay awesome and outgoing without any fear or limits.”
The musician announced her decision to sponsor the girl’s education, stating: “It’s heartbreaking to see a talented, confident child abused.”
Her comment was a subtle response to online trolls who had mocked Tracy’s dancing in the viral clip.
“I also wanted to sponsor her education so she can become the best version of herself,” she added.
The visit wasn’t just symbolic. Wendy Shay came bearing custom-branded exercise books, beverages from Peeva, a 40-inch Hisense television, and an undisclosed sum of money—all dedicated to Tracy.
The generous donations extended to the school as well, receiving warm applause from teachers and administrators alike.
The moment served as a reaffirmation of the power of kindness during the Easter season, with fans praising the singer for using her platform to uplift others.
For Tracy and her classmates, it was an unforgettable experience—one that not only celebrated youthful exuberance but also validated the right to joy, expression, and recognition.
Wendy Shay’s gesture arrives amid the growing popularity of Too Late, a track that has charted across Ghana and internationally, reaching audiences in the United States, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda, and Liberia.
Since Tracy’s video went viral, the 2024 hit has spiked on streaming platforms and become one of the most Shazamed songs of the season.
